Indian security forces kill two Pakistani terrorists

UDHAMPUR DISTRICT, JAMMU AND KASHMIR, INDIA – SEPTEMBER 17, 2026 Indian security forces killed two Pakistani members of the Jaish-e-Mohammed organization during a joint counterterrorism operation in the forested area of Majalta. The operation was carried out under worsening weather conditions and in difficult mountainous terrain.

Jammu and Kashmir Police identified the dead as Saddam and Mustafa, both of whom police said were Pakistani citizens. The operation, codenamed Operation Soan, was launched based on intelligence about the presence of terrorists. Units of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) took part in the operation.

After the gunfight, weapons and ammunition were found at the scene, including an AK assault rifle, an M4 carbine, a Glock pistol, and four grenades. Security forces also detained a local man suspected of being an over-ground worker, who authorities said had provided support to the terrorists. Searches and area checks for other possible militants continued even after the pair had been killed.
