KOKOLA, BENI REGION, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO – MAY 21, 2026 In eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, fighters from Islamic State Central Africa Province (ISCAP), also known as the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), attacked a military outpost. Unfortunately, the soldiers were unable to repel the attack, and many of them were killed.
The Beni area has long been one of the main areas of operation for the ADF, where they attack both soldiers and civilians. The situation is further complicated by conflict with other armed groups, particularly M23, and killings, kidnappings, and displacement of residents occur regularly in the region. Eastern Congo therefore remains one of the most unstable areas of the country.
