MANAUS, AMAZONAS, BRAZIL – MARCH 21, 2025 Six-year-old girl was fatally hit and crushed by a garbage truck in the União da Vitória neighborhood. The tragic accident occurred when the girl went to the store to buy bread at her mother’s request. She walked very close in front of the parked garbage truck, so she was outside the driver’s field of vision. He had no chance to see her and drove off. The incident was recorded on a security camera. In the footage, another child can be seen trying to warn the victim, but in vain.
After the accident, the garbage collectors standing on the back of the truck noticed her body and immediately urged the driver to stop. Local residents rushed to help her, and a helpful taxi driver took her to the hospital. However, doctors there pronounced her dead.
This tragedy serves as a stark reminder for all parents and anyone using the roads. Large vehicles like trucks and buses have significant blind spots. If you’re standing too close, the driver may not see you at all. Awareness and caution around such vehicles are crucial for everyone’s safety.
