QUININDÉ, ECUADOR – FEBRUARY 21, 2010 8 people died in an accident involving a Gilberto Zambrano bus. At 19:00 the bus was on its regular route on the Esmeraldas – Santo Domingo road. The bus came around a curve in the opposite direction, hit a guardrail and fell into a ravine about 6 meters deep.
Among the victims were a boy aged 12 and a 16 year old girl. Two foreign women – one American and the other of Belgian nationality – also died. Both foreign women were members of the Mormon Church. Another 25 people were seriously injured and taken to a local hospital.
