NAIROBI, KENYA – JANUARY 22, 2025 Man identified as 29-year-old John Kiama Wambua was caught by police officers carrying suspicious luggage. When they looked inside, they saw the dismembered remains of a young woman.

The victim has been identified as 19 year old Joy Fridah Munani, his wife. Wambua was immediately arrested and is now facing murder charges.

A large knife, believed to have been used as the murder weapon, was found in the kitchen of his Huruma Estate apartment. Other parts of the dismembered woman were found wrapped in a plastic bag in the Mathare River not long after. Although DNA analysis has not yet been carried out, it is almost certainly the same person.
