ARACHE, CÓRDOBA, COLOMBIA – DECEMBER 27, 2025 Tragedy struck the town of Arache in Colombia’s Córdoba department during the traditional corralejas festivities. Fifty-two-year-old Uvaldo Montalvo Lozano, known as “El Topo”, was fatally injured when a bull violently struck him in the arena. He was rushed to a nearby medical center, but doctors were unable to save his life.
The incident deeply affected his home community of Punta de Yánez, where he was known as a beloved and charismatic figure. The tragedy has also reignited debate over the safety of these traditional celebrations, held annually in various parts of Córdoba. Authorities are currently investigating the exact circumstances of the fatal accident.
