CHINA, 2020 47-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son were walking along a mountain trail when they were attacked by a black bear. While the bear tore the mother to death, the boy ran to the village to call for help, saving his life.
The boy told the fact that they were attacked by the bear to his relative, who went to the mountains to rescue the woman. To his misfortune, this 55 year old man was also attacked and killed by the bear.
By this time, the whole village had gone in search of the two victims. During the search, the bear attacked and killed a 68-year-old man from the group.
When the aggressive bear had already claimed three victims, the police stepped in and shot the animal.
Forensic autopsies were performed on all victims so that the exact cause of death could be listed on the death certificate. All three victims were found to have head, face and neck injuries, multiple fractures and internal bleeding.
An autopsy was also performed on the animal so that the authorities could be sure they had eliminated the correct animal. The DNA of the bear’s stomach contents matched the DNA of all three victims.
The animal was a male black bear, 160 cm long, 175 kg. The reason for his aggression could not be determined. Female bears are most often aggressive when they have cubs around.
