TANGUÁ, RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL – OCTOBER 3, 2025 Small town of Tanguá was shaken by a shocking case of a double murder of a mother and daughter followed by suicide. The incident took place in a family house in the Mangueirinha neighborhood, near the BR-101 highway. The victims were identified as 36-year-old Aline dos Santos Barbosa and 15-year-old Gabrielle dos Santos Camacho.

The perpetrator was Aline’s partner, a local small businessman, 66-year-old Moisés Belmont. He resorted to murdering his partner and stepdaughter after receiving a summons from the local police station to appear and give statement regarding sexual harassment. He allegedly had long-term sexual abuse of 15-year-old Gabrielle, as well as her 10-year-old sister. Fortunately, the younger sister was not home at the time of the murders.
After killing them, he got into his car and drove to the neighboring town of Rio Bonito. There, inside his car, he shot himself in the head. He was found dead several hours later.
