ARAUCÁRIA, PARANÁ, BRAZIL – JANUARY 20, 2011 26-year-old Gleberson Campanha Furtuna attacked his 24-year-old wife, Patrícia Kellin Fedrigo, during a violent argument and inflicted several stab wounds on her, which proved fatal. The couple worked as IT technicians and had been together since 2006.
According to statements from relatives and neighbors, conflicts between the couple had frequently occurred in the past. Patrícia had also left their shared home and gone to stay with her family several days before the tragedy. Gleberson later convinced her to return. During the night, neighbors heard a loud argument coming from the apartment, followed by the woman’s screams.
Around 5 a.m., the neighbors also began hearing Gleberson calling for help. When they entered the apartment, they found Patrícia dead and her husband seriously injured in the kitchen. Emergency responders were unable to save either of them. Police recovered two kitchen knives from the scene.
Investigators cited jealousy, relationship problems, and Patrícia’s alleged decision to end the marriage as possible factors behind the tragedy. However, the exact course of the confrontation could not be reliably reconstructed because both people involved had died. After the attack, Gleberson inflicted fatal injuries on his wrists and neck.
