COPIAPÓ, ATACAMA, CHILE – SEPTEMBER 19, 2026 Brutal fight took place during state holiday celebrations. A 42-year-old man suffered serious head injuries after he was allegedly repeatedly attacked by two men, according to police. The attackers beat him with a glass bottle, and an air gun was also used during the incident.
Police later arrested two 30-year-old men at a hospital whose clothing matched footage from the incident. According to police, they also had traces of blood on their hands and feet. A third man was later arrested. Officers also seized a .50-caliber Umarex T4E TP50 Gen2 air gun.
Two of the accused were later charged with aggravated assault, while the third faces a charge of minor assault. All of them were released with an obligation to report regularly, a travel ban preventing them from leaving Chile, and a restraining order prohibiting them from approaching the victim. The investigation is ongoing, and the motive remains unknown.
