Mexican teacher died during singing performance

MAGDALENA DE KINO, SONORA, MEXICO – SEPTEMBER 13, 2025 61-year-old music teacher and former principal of the local high school, Luis Eduardo “Guayo” Bojórquez, suddenly died during a singing performance at the San Francisco festival. While singing the song “A mi manera” (the Spanish version of “My Way”) with his group Unión, he suddenly stopped, leaned on something, and within seconds lost consciousness.

Everything happened in front of his students and their families. Sadly, no one present was able to provide effective first aid, and when the ambulance arrived, there was nothing left for them to do but declare Luis dead.

According to Mexican media, Luis had long struggled with heart problems and was on a waiting list for heart valve surgery. Fate, however, had other plans.

Luis Eduardo Bojórquez was a well-known figure in the region, and the news of his death shocked the wider community. He had spent decades as a music teacher and served as principal of the local high school for many years. Many remember him as a man who united people through singing and tradition.

The incident once again shows how fragile human life is and how suddenly it can end. Beyond cherishing every moment, it is also important to be proactive. By learning the basics of first aid, you may one day save someone’s life. By going to the doctor regularly and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, you may even save your own – most heart attacks can be detected early through prevention.

If you ever find yourself as a witness when someone collapses, it’s critical to check for vital signs and, if necessary, start resuscitation immediately. In the case of a heart attack, every second matters.
