VIETNAM The Vietnam War was an armed conflict instigated by communist North Vietnam, which took place between 1955 and 1975 in Vietnam and along the borders of neighboring countries (Cambodia and Laos). It is also known as the Second Indochina War (1959–1975).
The photos come from U.S. Army field hospitals, which were used for the initial treatment of wounded soldiers. As can be seen, no war is a pleasant affair, and some soldiers were left with lifelong consequences, such as amputated legs.
