MIXCO, GUATEMALA – FEBRUARY 18, 2025 In the suburbs of Ciudad de Guatemala, a tragic accident claimed the life of a motorcyclist. The incident took place in the early morning hours near the Emiliani Somascos Institute in zone 3.
The motorcyclist collided with and was run over by a tanker truck. As it later turned out, the tanker was being driven by a 17-year-old boy without any driver’s license.
According to video footage, it appears that the motorcyclist and the tanker driver had an argument shortly before the accident. This was also confirmed by several witnesses. The police are now investigating whether the incident was truly an accident or intentional.
Nefi Alejandro Batres
The victim was identified as Nefi Alejandro Batres, approximately 30 years old (with varying reports across sources). He was known for his passion for football and motorcycles. His death caused a wave of grief in his family and community, where people shared photos and videos in his memory on social media, also demanding justice for his death and a proper investigation by the police.
