Mummies from Guanajuato

GUANAJUATO, MEXICO The original post “Momias de Guanajuato” from the gore website rotten.com (which is sadly no longer with us) shows unearthed human mummies in the city of Guanajuato, Mexico. Between 1896 and 1958, a high burial tax was imposed here. Many people could not afford to pay for it, so their remains were buried in a so-called ossuary. But the properties of the dry air caused the corpses to dry out and turn them into mummies.
