PAGADIAN CITY, PHILIPPINES – SEPTEMBER 24, 2017 57-year-old Jossie Calamba Gabule was murdered by an unknown gunman with several shots to the head. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries but died en route.
Jossie was in the business of borrowing money, which appeared to police to be the most likely motive for the murder. She had recently attempted to recover the sum of PHP300,000 (US$5,300) from a clinician who owed her money.
Another motive the police worked with was a love triangle. Jossie was reportedly having an affair with a married soldier. His wife found out about their relationship and aggressively confronted her several times.
A third motive may have been a land lawsuit, which Jossie eventually won.
