NIGERIA Nigerian woman was caught by her husband having sex with her lover. If this had happened in the southern states of Nigeria, it would have gone unpunished. Unfortunately for her, in the northern states, Sharia law is enforced, and adultery can be punished with up to two years in prison. Extreme punishments are also not uncommon, including stoning to death or public and humiliating flogging.
This woman faced the flogging. Her husband dragged her out in front of their house, and a crowd eagerly participated in her punishment. They held her by the arms and legs to prevent movement, first beating her and then painfully whipping her.
