CHIANG MAI, THAILAND – SEPTEMBER 10, 2025 56-year-old head of the construction department at the Don Kaew municipal office was buried under soil and debris while performing his duties. He had been inspecting the sewer and drainage pipes when the ground above him gave way and collapsed directly on top of him. His colleagues and rescuers rushed to the scene, but it took a long 20 minutes before they managed to free him.
Prasert was rushed to Nakornping Hospital in critical condition. He suffered multiple fractures and internal injuries to vital organs, including the spleen. Sadly, doctors confirmed his death.
The mayor of Don Kaew, Polakorn Kanthawang, expressed his sincere condolences to the family and assured them that the office would provide full support. He also stressed the importance of adhering to higher safety standards during similar inspections and construction work, especially during the rainy season.
