Parasite discovered in abdominal cavity of soldier during surgery

Soldier was escorted to the hospital due to a gunshot wound to the abdomen. However, the doctors found not only a bullet from a rifle in his abdominal cavity, but also a parasite – an ascarid. These enter the human body through the consumption of poorly washed fruit or vegetables. The larvae then hatch in the small intestine, where they remain for their entire life.
