But many people may have had a stake in his death, especially the previous head of state, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, whom Nisman blamed for covering Iran’s trail in the bloody assassination. Federal authorities took up the case and investigated it as a murder. More than a year after his death, the case’s lead investigator confirmed that it was indeed a murder. But who ordered the murder could not be proven.
