SONIPAT, HARYANA, INDIA – SEPTEMBER 14, 2026 Six-month-old baby suffered serious injuries in a pit bull attack that occurred in Sikka Colony. The baby was being carried by an aunt when the dog ran out of a nearby house, attacked the woman, and then pulled the baby from her arms.
The attack was captured by a security camera. The dog held the baby and dragged the child along the road for approximately 30 seconds before the baby could be freed. The child suffered deep injuries to the face, mouth, and hand and, according to the family, received treatment requiring more than 20 stitches. After initial treatment in Delhi, the baby was transferred to PGIMS Rohtak hospital. According to a later statement from the hospital, the child’s condition began to improve.
The case also serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible dog ownership, especially in households where young children are present. Owners should ensure that dogs cannot freely leave a secured area, while parents and other caregivers should always remain cautious around dogs, as even an animal that normally appears calm can react unpredictably in certain situations.
