VENÂNCIO AIRES, RIO GRANDE DO SUL, BRAZIL – AUGUST 4, 2026 Gathering of a group of friends at a rural property ended in tragedy. A man approximately 45 years old stepped on a homemade firecracker, which exploded moments later and blew off part of his foot.
The friends took the victim to a hospital for treatment, where unfortunately the doctors were unable to restore the foot to its original condition and had to perform a partial amputation. He will never walk normally again.
The incident is a harsh reminder of the dangers of fireworks. Never attempt to make them at home. When handling them, always strictly follow the manufacturer’s instructions, including the storage recommendations.
