BORȘA, ROMANIA – DECEMBER 25, 2024 Driver of the Porsche was travelling at high speed around the city but failed to control the steering, crossed into oncoming traffic and crashed head-on into a police car. Inside were 3 police officers returning from duty at the station. Ironically, they were less than 330 feet (100 meters) from the station. All three were seriously injured and two had to be airlifted to hospital. One of them suffered a spinal fracture.
The driver of the Porsche fled the scene without administering first aid. But he was arrested by the police shortly afterwards. He refused to take a drug and alcohol test, which under Romanian law is seen as if he was under the influence. In addition, it was found that his car was travelling at 93mph (100kph) at the time of impact, whereas the speed limit in Romanian municipalities is usually 31mph (50kph).
