Several witnesses reported seeing four armed men ambush Juan at Moisés Reis Square and force him into a car. From there, he was likely taken straight to the execution site.
Shortly after his body was found, a horrifying video began circulating online. In it, the criminals are seen mutilating his corpse and cutting off his head with a machete.
Initial police investigations indicate that Juan was likely a member of a criminal faction. Everything suggests that the attackers were motivated by rival gang warfare.
