SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL – AUGUST 21, 2026 Two men died after being struck by a driver who, according to police, had been robbed by them shortly beforehand. The incident occurred on Antônio José Bentes Street in the Capão Redondo area.
According to newer information from police, the men arrived on a motorcycle and posed as delivery workers during the robbery. The driver initially handed over his belongings, but then got into his car and began chasing the pair. During the pursuit, the car crashed into the motorcycle on which the two suspects were fleeing. Both men sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Police later found a firearm, several cell phones, and two wedding rings in the pair’s possession, which may have come from other robberies. Investigators are now checking their origin.
The driver was taken to the AMA Capão Redondo medical facility for treatment after the incident. According to one later report, he did not suffer serious injuries in the crash.
The case was taken over by the 47th Police Precinct in São Paulo, which is investigating the circumstances of the alleged robbery and the subsequent collision. The exact legal classification of the driver’s actions has not yet been released.
