SAMARA, RUSSIA – JULY 15, 2026 Information about the killing of Russian aerospace engineer Andrey Tisarev has begun spreading across the internet in recent days. According to reports published primarily on social media and in communities following the war in Ukraine, he was allegedly killed in a knife attack. The alleged assassination was also reportedly captured in a video recorded from the attacker’s point of view.
In the available posts, Andrey Tisarev is identified as the head of the Thermal Physics and Gas Dynamics Department at UEC-Kuznetsov. The company is engaged in the development and production of aircraft engines used, among other things, by the Russian military aviation.
According to these claims, a group operating under the name ‘Budanov’s Squads’ claimed responsibility for the attack. Some sources associate the group with Ukraine’s military intelligence agency, the GUR. However, no official statement has yet been released by the Ukrainian authorities confirming this information.
