Russian soldier lost part of his leg after stepping on landmine

UKRAINE Video from a frontline medical facility reveal the gruesome injury suffered by a Russian soldier in combat in Ukraine. After stepping on a landmine, he lost a significant portion of his leg. He will require surgical amputation and will face the challenges of adapting to life with a prosthesis.

Anti-personnel mines are intentionally designed to maim rather than kill. This strategy benefits the enemy by creating wounded soldiers who demand more resources, time, and money to treat and evacuate, placing a heavier burden on military logistics than if the soldiers were killed outright.
