SUKNA, WEST BENGAL, INDIA – MARCH 6, 2025 Tragic traffic accident occurred near New Chamta Gate. A boy riding his bicycle was hit by a tourist vehicle. He sustained very serious head injuries. His skull practically fractured and his head split open.
The latest reports from the hospital are that the boy is in a very serious condition. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have much chance of survival.
Unfortunately, the boy was not wearing a bicycle helmet, which could have saved his life. In some parts of the world, it is a legal requirement for a minor to wear a helmet when cycling. In India, this responsibility lies with the parents.
Parents, keep in mind that a child’s skull is nowhere near as cranial as that of an adult and needs to be protected effectively. A child’s skull is much thinner and has a lower density. It also contains less collagen and minerals, which makes the skull much more susceptible to injury. Last but not least, a child’s skull does not have fully fused cranial sutures.
