BANKA, BIHAR, INDIA – JUNE 27, 2026 Police are investigating the case of twenty-six-year-old Priyanka Kumari, whose remains were found at different locations in Banka district. The woman was initially reported missing, and later investigators discovered her severed head and other body parts.
Priyanka lived in the village of Ranga with her husband Vivek Pandit. According to her family, she and her husband were supposed to attend a ceremony before her younger sister’s wedding on the day she disappeared, but the couple never arrived. When relatives went to the husband’s family home the following day, they did not find Priyanka there. Her relatives claim that the husband’s family told them the woman had gone to her parents’ home, which later turned out to be false.
The search for the woman later led to a horrifying discovery. Police received information about the discovery of a human head buried in the Dumarhar area. After identifying the remains, authorities confirmed that they belonged to the missing Priyanka. Investigators then continued searching for other body parts, which police said had been hidden in different locations.
During the investigation, police also found the victim’s torso hidden inside a wastewater tank at an abandoned irrigation department facility near the village of Ranga. According to investigators, the body was dismembered after the murder and the individual parts were hidden separately. Police also recovered an object that was allegedly used in the attack.
Investigators focused their suspicion on members of her husband’s family. Police arrested Priyanka’s husband, his mother, and another underage female relative. Authorities continued searching for other suspects, including the victim’s father-in-law.
The murdered woman’s family stated that Priyanka had faced problems in her marriage for a long time. According to her father, she was allegedly subjected to humiliation and abuse by her husband’s family because she had given birth to three daughters and did not have a son. Police did not confirm this motive as definitive at the time of the investigation and continued examining all circumstances surrounding the case.
