ADANA, TURKEY – NOVEMBER 6, 2025 Tragic family incident occurred in the Yeşilyurt district. Forty-one-year-old Şevki Ş. shot his 48-year-old brother-in-law Ahmet K. with his hunting rifle after an argument over money. He hit him in the leg and then continued to beat him for several minutes with his fists and the rifle’s butt while Ahmet lay wounded on the ground.
The investigation confirmed that the dispute between the two men was financially motivated. Ahmet K. had allegedly been repeatedly asking his brother-in-law for money, but Şevki Ş. kept refusing. The argument escalated into this tragedy.
The injured man was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the knee, where doctors stabilized him. The attacker was arrested at the scene and now faces attempted murder charges. It was also discovered that he tried to wipe his fingerprints from the weapon before the police arrived, in an effort to mislead investigators.
According to Turkish media, both men have extensive criminal records. The attacker has eleven prior offenses, including extortion, drug trafficking, sexual harassment, and attempted murder. The victim, Ahmet K., has twelve records for intentional bodily harm, robbery, and threats. The attack took place in a commercial property that had previously been targeted in a grenade attack.
