SANTA CRUZ, BRAZIL Maria de Lourdes Alves da Silva, 26, was stabbed to death by her 40-year-old boyfriend. The murder was said to have been preceded by an argument out of jealousy. He subsequently attempted suicide by slitting his own throat. But he was rescued and taken to hospital.
