CARTAGENA, COLOMBIA – OCTOBER 2, 2025 In the evening hours, a tragic motorcycle accident occurred in the northern part of the city on Vía del Mar, claiming three lives. The accident happened during an illegal street race when a rider on a Kawasaki Z800 hit a woman who was trying to cross the road.

24-year-old Ubiellys Patricia Giraldo Rojas stepped directly into the path of the speeding motorcycle. One of the bystanders, 25-year-old Andrés Felipe De Hoyos, jumped in an attempt to save her. Ubiellys died at the scene, Andrés suffered severe injuries and later died at Serena del Mar hospital. The third victim was the motorcyclist, identified as 31-year-old Javier Alonso López Julio.
