DEIYAI REGENCY, CENTRAL PAPUA, INDONESIA – AUGUST 18, 2025 Separatists from the Organisasi Papua Merdeka movement (considered by many to be a terrorist movement) attacked three mototaxi drivers who were not citizens of Papua. Two of them were killed immediately, and the third was forced to deliver a message on video to the then-president to give up Papua. After that, he was killed just like his friends.
OPM is a separatist movement operating on the island of New Guinea, specifically in the Indonesian province of Papua, and it seeks independence from Indonesia. Part of its activities also includes armed attacks against civilians and government forces.
