RIO VERDE DE MATO GROSSO, MATO GROSSO DO SUL, BRAZIL Two-year-old boy found his father’s gun and began playing with it. Unfortunately, it was not a toy but a real loaded weapon. The child aimed it at his own mother and fired. She fell to the ground shortly after. Sadly, she died after being transported to the hospital.
This tragic case clearly shows that guns must never be accessible to children. Even a brief moment of inattention can lead to an irreversible tragedy. Children often do not understand the risks or consequences of handling a firearm – they see it as a toy. Guns should be stored out of children’s reach, ideally in locked safes with the magazine removed. Using safety locks and safe storage is key to preventing accidents.
