UKRAINE Video recorded by Ukrainian soldiers at frontline positions shows the skull of a dead Russian soldier mounted on a pole, which the soldiers display in front of the camera. The remains still show visible signs of decomposition, including remnants of soft tissue.
Such treatment of human remains may be considered problematic under international humanitarian law. The Geneva Conventions and related rules require that the bodies of the fallen be treated with respect and dignity, not as trophies.
