ETHIOPIA In Ethiopia, a severe conflict is ongoing, primarily targeting the Amhara ethnic group. Attacks on Amhara communities have been reported in western Oromia and other regions, attributed to the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA). The OLA claims to be fighting for greater autonomy for the Oromo people. There are allegations that the government of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, linked to the Oromo ethnic group, is either passively allowing these attacks or indirectly supporting them. Critics argue that the government exploits these tensions to suppress opposition and consolidate power.
In the Amhara region, resistance against the government is escalating, including an uprising by militias known as the Fano. These militias, which once collaborated with the government during the Tigray conflict, are now rebelling. The government has responded to the unrest with repressive measures, including declaring a state of emergency and taking harsh actions against civilians.
The conflict is deeply rooted in long-standing ethnic tensions, with both sides accusing each other of violence and discrimination. The consequences include thousands of deaths, massive displacement, and a humanitarian crisis that threatens the survival of affected populations.
The video shows the victims of this senseless conflict. The sad fact is that there are children and women among them. Their bodies are piled up like some kind of garbage.
