Villager found dead body in basement of abandoned house

PROVOTOROVO, RUSSIA – MAY 29, 2005 Residents of the small Russian village of Provotorovo got a big shock when one of the villagers found a dead body in the cellar of an abandoned house.

No one had lived in the abandoned house for over two years. So one of the villagers decided to use the cellar of the house as a storehouse for his cooked cucumbers and vegetables. He decided to dig the cellar slightly deeper, took a looata in his hand and started digging. But while digging, he came across a sack. The contents of the sack shocked him – inside was a man’s corpse. He immediately called the police to the spot.

The police identified the dead man as Anatoly Belov, 35, who had been missing since 26 April 2003. Suspicion immediately fell on his wife, 45-year-old Nina Belov, who moved out of the house immediately after his disappearance. She confessed to the murder during police questioning.

She admitted that they had often had arguments during their marriage. He often drank and suffered from mental illness. She in turn liked to flirt with local men in the village. When the quarrels continued and escalated, she poured strong poison into his alcohol, poisoning him. She then stuffed his body into two sacks and buried him in the cellar.

Unfortunately for her, the conditions in the cellar attic were ideal for the body not to decompose too quickly.
