Whole family died in head-on collision with truck

CHURU, RAJASTHAN, INDIA – DECEMBER 7, 2020 In the Indian state of Rajasthan, a tragic traffic accident occurred in which six members of one family died. The accident happened near the village of Bhanipura in the Churu district when the jeep they were traveling in collided head-on with a truck. The likely cause of the accident was poor visibility caused by dense fog.

The victims were identified as Lalaram (60), Reshmi Devi (65), Kanaram (40), Kalawati Devi (30), Kamla Devi (35), and Seema Devi (50). Two other family members were injured and taken to the district hospital.

According to police investigation, the accident was caused by heavy fog that significantly reduced visibility on the road. The truck was trying to overtake another vehicle and, due to poor visibility, collided head-on with the jeep. Both vehicles were severely damaged and rescue services had to use special equipment to extract the victims’ bodies.

The family was traveling from the city of Rawatsar in the Hanumangarh district to Dungargarh in the Bikaner district to attend a funeral ceremony. The tragedy caused grief throughout the community and local authorities expressed their condolences to the bereaved.
