DÜZCE, TURKEY – MAY, 2026 In northwestern Turkey, a tragic accident occurred during a rafting trip on the Melen River, in which one woman died. According to available information, the raft overturned during the ride in a strong current. Among the participants was a woman named Cansu Engin Çamur (35 years old), who disappeared into the river after falling into the water and was carried away by the current.
An extensive search operation was immediately launched, involving AFAD rescue units, the gendarmerie, and other teams. After several hours or days of searching, her body was found further downstream, approximately several kilometers from the accident site.
The incident occurred during an organized rafting trip, and local authorities have launched an investigation to determine whether all safety procedures were followed.
