MACEIÓ, ALAGOAS, BRAZIL – AUGUST 23, 2025 Brutal murder of a woman named Roseane Tenório dos Santos Jerônimo occurred, who was according to police reports and the media 39 years old. The perpetrator was her former partner Erick Lucas da Silva, whose age was not clearly stated in all sources, but according to investigative materials and police statements it was a young man in early adulthood (around 20–25 years old).

The incident occurred when the two met on a prearranged meeting. It was meant to serve as the return of a ring after the end of an approximately five-month relationship.
According to the police and security camera recordings, the situation quickly turned into an attack. Erick Lucas da Silva chased the woman, then physically assaulted her and used a strangulation technique known as “mata-leão”. He then inflicted at least ten stab wounds on her with a knife. The attack took place in a public area and was partially captured by a surveillance system.
After the act, the perpetrator fled the scene and stole the victim’s mobile phone and handbag. During his escape he discarded some of the items in the surroundings, including on the roof of one of the houses. Police apprehended and arrested him shortly afterward.
The investigation showed that the man was unable to cope with the breakup and that contact between them continued up to the time of the meeting. Messages retrieved from the victim’s phone confirmed that the meeting was arranged in advance specifically for the return of the ring.
During questioning, Erick Lucas da Silva confessed to the act. Police also stated that he had prior records for various offenses, including threats, drug-related crime, and domestic violence.
