Woman found dead at Cherokee County Best Western

CHEROKEE COUNTY, GEORGIA, USA Hotel staff at the Best Western in Cherokee County discovered a dead woman in one of the rooms during routine housekeeping. At first glance, it appeared to be a homicide: her hands were bound, and a plastic bag was over her head.

However, the police investigation uncovered several pieces of evidence that changed the course of the case. A suicide note was found next to her body, apologizing to the police for the trouble caused. There were also several farewell messages addressed to her family members. Further inquiry revealed that, prior to her death, she had searched online for methods of suicide.

To be absolutely certain it was a suicide, police reviewed all available security footage from the hotel. It confirmed that no one else had entered her room. Additionally, the body’s livor mortis patterns and rigor mortis matched the position in which she was found, and there was no evidence of anyone assisting her. The case was officially ruled a suicide.
