MANAUS, AMAZONAS, BRAZIL Bystander captured a shocking act of domestic violence between a couple in the middle of the street in the Armando Mendes neighborhood.
Video shows a woman sitting on the edge of the sidewalk, crying, as her husband approaches her. He raises his voice and begins acting aggressively. At first, he only gestures as if he intends to strangle her but hesitates. Moments later, he suddenly punches her in the chin, grabs her by the neck, and starts strangling her.

She struggles to free herself, desperately screaming for help, but within seconds, she loses consciousness. Realizing the severity of the situation, the man immediately lets go of her neck and attempts to revive her. Panicked, he then runs off to find help.
Particularly distressing aspect of the scene is the number of passing vehicles that fail to stop, despite the clear signs that the woman is in urgent need of assistance. The good news, however, is that the woman survived.
