MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – OCTOBER 2, 2025 Routine trip to work turned into a fight for life for 36-year-old Wan Lai. While walking through an alley on Little Bourke Street in the city center, a random woman approached her and, without warning, stabbed her in the chest area.
The injured woman, who works as a sushi chef, suffered serious but not directly life-threatening injuries. According to doctors, she had blood and air in her chest cavity. After several days of hospitalization, she was discharged home.
The incident occurred during the morning rush hour in an area full of security cameras, which led to the quick arrest of the perpetrator. The attacker was a 32-year-old woman from Melbourne who, at the time of the assault, had been released on bail for another charge. She is now in custody and faces several additional serious charges, including intentional bodily harm and violation of bail conditions.
