TOMPOUNG, BATTAMBANG, CAMBODIA – SEPTEMBER 10, 2014 21-year-old woman decided to take her own life after arguing with her husband about her studies. While she wanted to continue her studies at University in Phnom Penh, her husband forbade her to do so. Moreover, her mother put psychological pressure on her to continue her studies.
She was trapped between the two opposing views of the two greatest authorities in her life—her mother and her husband, which put her into severe depression. She locked herself in a room where she hung herself from a ceiling beam. When her relatives found her, she was already dead.
