According to the available video footage, Brayan Rojas Julca, 21, and Luz Clarita Ramírez Pardo were riding motorcycles with a group of friends. The footage shows them attempting to dangerously overtake a truck. During the maneuver, their motorcycle entered the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle.
Brayan Rojas Julca died at the scene. Luz Clarita Ramírez Pardo suffered serious injuries and was taken to Las Mercedes Hospital in Chiclayo, where she died several hours later. Three people in the oncoming vehicle were also injured in the crash.
