ITABELA, BAHIA, BRAZIL – SEPTEMBER 1, 2026 19-year-old Kauã Santos Ribeiro was gunned down in the early morning hours while he was on his way to work on his bicycle. On Avenida Guarating, he was stopped by two masked gunmen. According to security camera footage, one of the attackers got off the motorcycle and began shooting at Kauã. The young man attempted to flee and subsequently got into a physical confrontation with the attacker. Meanwhile, the second man approached on a motorcycle and also fired shots. Both attackers then fled the scene.
Kauã suffered fatal injuries and died before emergency responders arrived. Police recovered several shell casings at the scene and are investigating the case. The identities of the attackers and the motive for the murder have not yet been released.
