When she arrived, the apartment door was locked and there was no response. The landlord was called and tried to open it with spare keys, but the door would not open because her body was blocking it from the inside. After gaining entry through another access point, they found her dead, having hanged herself in partial suspension.
Her friend later told police that Natália had been going through a very difficult time and was suffering from depression after a breakup with her ex-boyfriend. The case was closed as a suicide.
