ISTANBUL, TURKEY – DECEMBER 17, 2024 Two teenage girls wanted to cut their way home from school and tried to cross a busy multi-lane road. All seemed safe as there was a traffic jam and no vehicles were moving. But when the 15-year-old girl stepped in front of the truck, she was in the driver’s blind spot and he started moving at that moment. The girl still tried to run in front of the truck so that the driver could see her, but to no avail. She was run over and transported in critical condition to the hospital where she later died.
Whether as a pedestrian, cyclist, or motorcyclist, it is always important to remember that if you are in front of the cab of a truck, the driver may not see you. Sometimes we feel that if we can see him, he can see us, but many people have paid with their lives because of this feeling.
