VALLE HERMOSO, TAMAULIPAS, MEXICO – OCTOBER, 2009 Shop assistant at a stationery store, identified as 17-year-old Ruth Ortiz Sauceda, became the victim of a violent robbery. A man stormed into the store demanding she hand over the cash from the register. Although she complied, she moved too slowly for the robber’s liking, which made him increasingly agitated. This escalated into a brutal physical assault, during which he repeatedly punched her in the face with full force.
When paramedics arrived, the girl was unconscious and in critical condition on the floor. Tragically, she died on the way to the hospital.
The incident took place at the Alameda stationery store, located at the corner of Juárez and Alameda streets in the city center, not far from Valle Hermoso High School.
The victim’s body was handed over to the forensic medical institute, where an autopsy was conducted to collect biological evidence that may help identify the attacker. The results of the police investigation remain unknown.
