MANABÍ, ECUADOR – DECEMBER 30, 2024 Tragic traffic accident occurred in the Ecuadorian province of Manabí when a bus belonging to the Coactur company crashed on the road leading to Jipijapa in the Paján district. According to information from ECU 911, the bus lost control on a curve, veered off the road, and overturned. The accident resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to 15 others. The injured were treated on-site and later transported to local medical facilities. Wet roads caused by rain might have been a contributing factor.
On the same day, another serious accident took place in the province of Loja, on the Santiago-Loja road near the Zenen area. A bus from the Viajeros company collided head-on with an oncoming pickup truck. The crash claimed the life of the pickup driver and left four others injured.
These incidents highlight the need for heightened caution while driving, particularly under adverse weather conditions, and emphasize the importance of regular vehicle and infrastructure maintenance to prevent such tragedies.
