CHINA 20-year-old female scooter driver initiated an overtaking manoeuvre of a truck without having sufficient vision of the oncoming traffic. Unfortunately, a vehicle was just driving there and she didn’t have much time to react. She began to brake hard, but lost control of the scooter, drove onto the sidewalk, and crashed into a wall. The impact crushed her skull and caused a fatal brain injury. She died instantly. In this case, a helmet could have saved her life, but unfortunately she was not wearing one.
